I have the same dilemma. My job has requires a high level of confidentiality and we live in a world where people are becoming more and more worried about potential claims and liabilities (which I guess I can't really complain about too much!) I muddle around facts a little sometimes to make things dissimilar enough to actual events to avoid trouble - I don't think your blog post that I commented on gave too much info, but appreciate your concern!:)
I found your blog through a random option and yours was one that just struck a chord. Much of my family is in law enforcement and I remember all too well the nights when these family members came home and just went to bed - untouched dinner going cold on the table. I regularly feel scared for these family members because they do face so much and the world out there can be a rough place - I was told definitely NOT to be a policewoman (and I did think about it). Blogs like yours are good for people in these industries because a) they let you vent and b) they might help other people struggling with similar situations.

I would be interested in reading more:)

Thanks for the comment. I didn't think anyone could even find this blog. I wasn't sure I was going to write anymore on the web because of the sensitive nature of the information. But now I think I will, though I have to keep things vague.

How very sad... I really feel for the family of the persn who was killed and also for all the officers involved, including yourself. I am fortunate enough to have never have had to have seen anything like that, and I am sure that that is a pretty regular thing for you. Don't beat yourself up about the fact that you did not stop the car... you are right, a high speed chase may have injured more people, but the main thing is that you weren't to know that what happened would happen. Also it seems like you were underresourced, with not enough manpower to go around. you can't win in these situations. But, you can feel alright in the fact that you gave the poor person assistance, and that they knew someone was there. if they had died alone, it would have been the greater tragedy. i am sure they were comforted by you being there.
